Established in 1812 by Hannah Woodall following the death of her husband.
To support her young family, she offered her butchery and charcuterie skills to families in Waberthwaithe to help them turn household pigs into air dried meat products that could be preserved and eaten over the winter months.
In 2019 this remains a family run business only using traditional methods to air dry and smoke meat. Animal welfare is very much at the heart of this business and they have the upmost respect for the animals.
All pork used by Woodall's is selectively sourced using only British Outdoor Bred pigs. These pigs are born outdoors and after weaning are moved inside to straw bedded housing.
In 2017 they were awarded the prestigious Good Pig Award by the Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards hosted by Compassion in World Farming. So, you can be assured that not only do their cured meats taste outstanding they have also been produced with compassion and care.
